Michael Sultana in Cagnes Sur Mer

The Mediterranean Horseracing Union Jockey Championship 2011 kickstarts this Sunday 13th February at Cagnes Sur Mer Racetrack , Nice Cote DÁzur in France . Malta placed a merited second place in last years Championship after winners Morocco were crowned Champions in the last leg held on the 8th December in the Ippodromo Del Mediterraneo in Siracusa. The results achieved last year for Malta are very encouraging as it is a discipline were we are still rather limited and other competing countries such as France and Italy have by far many experienced and professional jockeys.

In Cagnes Sur Mer, Malta will be represented by Malta’s Top Jockey for 2010, Mr Michael Sultana, who’s efforts and determination in the saddle have gained him a reputation both locally and abroad as he was seen winning also in Belgium, Germany and Kuwait in the last 12 months. The Maltese Jockey will be accompanied by Malta Racing Club Chairman Dr Matthew Brincat who will be attending the Council Meeting of the Mediterranean Horseracing Galop Committee to be held in Nice next Saturday 12th February were developments and the racing calendar for 2011 will be finalised including organisation of events and other initiatives between the Mediterranean Horseracing Union Members.

Lets all hope for a good start for the Maltese Jockey. The Malta Racing Club has confirmed that the Maltese Jockey Championship Leg will be held in Malta on the 31st March 2011 together with the Trotting Drivers Championship Leg.
