Malta Equidrome Summer Championship Finals

The Malta Equidrome Summer Championship Finals will be raced next Friday 29th July from 7:00 pm onwards. This will be the last racing meeting before the Summer break and it will consist of seven finals covering all the differenti categories from Premier to Copper.

This year’s edition of the Summer Championship consisted of three different legs in which each horse could race a maximum of three times over three different distances 1640m, 2140m and 2640m. Each horse accumulated points according to the order of finish so that the 12 horses in each category that had the most points gained the right to participate in his final which will be over the 2140m distance. This championship was spread over 8 racing meetings during which a total of 72 races were held.

It is interesting to see that four of last year’s winners are once again in the finals even though maybe this year they have tougher competition as they will be racing in higher categories.

Over €10,000 will be distributed in prize money next Friday and for the first time trophies will be given to the first four finishers.

It is expected that the Chairman of the Malta Equidrome Hugh Morshead will be presenting the trophies to the winners in the presence of the Malta Racing Club officials.
