For the 9th consecutive year M.Demajo Wines & Spirits Ltd are sustaining local horse racing through their sponsorship of the prestigious Johnnie Walker Cup dating back to 1939. As has happened in the past seven years it is the Gold category horses that are participating in this race.

 

After 70 horses took part in 7 heats on 10th October, half of them went on to the semifinals raced last Sunday so that twelve of the best horses in this category made it through to the final which will be raced on Sunday 7th November.

 

Earlier today, Mr Alfred Braddick, Marketing Manager of M.Demajo Wines & Spirits Ltd and Judge Emeritus Antonio Mizzi, Chairman of the Malta Racing Club/EquestriMalta did the draws of the numbers to be assigned to these twelve trotters for the final.

These draws were witnessed by the horses’ owners as well as live streamed on the Malta Racing Club’s Facebook page.

 

With spectators back on the stands, one is looking forward to a spectacle especially judging by the way the three semi finals evolved.

 

Apart from the trophy, as always the winning horse will be given a commemorative blanket whilst the owner will receive a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label. The owners of the second, third and fourth placed horses apart from receiving trophies will respectively also enjoy a bottle of Johnnie Walker 18-year old, Johnnie Walker Gold Reserve and Johnnie Walker Green Label.
