Malta Wins Mediterranean Horse Racing Union Championship

Saturday afternoon at the Sicilian La Favorita racetrack in Palermo we had the last leg of the Mediterranean Horse Racing Union Championship.  Malta was represented by the young Gozitan driver Marco Refalo for whom this was his first International experience. His participation was definitely a memorable one when he managed to win the first race and finish third in the second one.  This excellent result not only declared Marco Refalo as the day’s best driver but also assured that the Maltese Team wins the championship.

Malta’s Team was composed of Anthony Demanuele who participated in the first leg held in Malta on 31st March, Charles Camilleri who took part in the leg at Cagnes-sur-Mer France on 15th July, Kurt Saliba who was our representative in Moscow Russia on 10th September and of course Marco Refalo.

This was not the first time that Team Malta won this championship which this year was contested between seven countries.  Serbia finished in second place followed by France in third.
