The Council of the Malta Racing Club announces that it will organize a Horse Racing Festival on Sunday 2nd January.

The meeting will be a special one for the festive season with a variety of races for different types of horses kept in Malta.

Indeed, the programme will include:
(1) Ponies races – Various races open for different types of ponies will be held. More details about these races will be announced later;
(2) Flat races - A race open for Class A horses and another for those in Class B;
(3) Ladies race – A race reserved exclusively for female drivers;
(4) TV Presenters Race – The Best eight drivers will drive eight TV Presenters in a trot Race;
(5) Veteran Drivers – A trot race reserved for retired Drivers;
(6) Owners Trot Race – A trot race reserved for Owners who never won at the Track;
(7) Minors Trot Race – A Race for Upcoming Drivers of between 15plus and 18years;
(8) Monte’ trot races – Trot races for each of the Copper, Bronze, Silver and Gold classes, which however will be held exclusively on a monte’ basis;
(9) Fun Race for drivers and another for jockeys- A 250 metre running race (without horses) for drivers and another for jockeys from the gates to the finish line;
(10) Grand Final – Grand Final for trotters (harness racing) in the Premier Class. Ten finalists will participate and these will comprise the horses which placed in the first five places in the final of the President’s Cup which was held on the 13th December and of the Prix de Vincennes held on the 19th December.

This programme will be held on a festival basis fitting for this time of year and will include features of spectacle and variety for the whole family. The final programme will be announced in the coming days.

Registration is open as from the 20th December and closes on the 27th December 2010.
