Assikura Championship Finals for Horse Racing this weekend at the Malta Racing Club

11th February 2010

The Malta Racing Club will this Sunday hold the Assikura Championship Finals day. The Assikura Championship is an annual event were horses from countries outside Sweden or France can register to participate and compete for the top spot in each category. In fact more than 50 horses participated during the heats stage, held on Sunday 31st January, with the eventual finalists competing in 3 different Finals, depending on the category. The OPEN A Final should prove to be one of the most contested as it is open to the top 2 Horse Racing Classes, i.e. the Premier and Gold categories.

In an official statement the Malta Racing Club chairman, Dr. Matthew Brincat, thanked Assikura Insurance for supporting this event. Dr. Brincat also said that “horses imported from France have 2 annual championship events, which are supported by the S.E.C.F, whilst the U*Bet championship which ended last week supports the Swedish imports, and the Club felt that a similar championship should be organised for non-French and non-Swedish horses. In fact it is the second consecutive year that such an event is being organised by the Club”

In the coming months the Malta Racing Club also plans to organise a number of events aimed at further developing and growing horse racing activity in Malta, which is considered one of the main sports on the island, as it offers unequalled entertainment to all those attending a race meeting.
