Andrew Farrugia in Mediterranean Championship



On Sunday morning harness driver Andrew Farrugia together with Malta Racing Club Chairman Edwin Borg will go to Sicily where the last leg of the Mediterranean Horse Racing Championship will be raced at the Del Mediterraneo racetrack of Syracuse.


 


This last leg will determine the winning team for this year with Malta currently being just half a point short of the leaders Italy. Team Malta have won the last two editions of this championship. This year Malta shared the victory with Italy during the first leg raced in Malta, won the second leg in Russia and finished second in Serbia during the third leg with Malta’s representatives being Rodney Gatt, Charles Camilleri and Noel Baldacchino respectively.


 


During this last leg the Mediterranean Horse Racing Union will be celebrating the 10th Anniversary since its conception in 2008 and for the occassion has prepared a special variety programme to celebrate its members different cultures. This programme consists of exhibitions, renowned singers as well as food tasting.


 


Farrugia will be in action on Sunday afternoon in a race which starts at 4:30 p.m. He has drawn number 4 Reflex Grif and will be competing against drivers from Italy, Serbia, Romania, Russia, France and Algeria.
