Kurt Saliba Represents Malta in Russia

Friday evening young driver Kurt Saliba will be flying to Moscow so that on Sunday he will take part in the 3rd leg of the Mediterranean and Black Sea Horse Racing Championship which will be held at the Central Moscow Hippodrome which is the oldest racetrack in the world.


25 year old Saliba won the local young drivers’ championship twice in 2014 and last year. He drove his first race on Killer de Caveland on 12th April 2009 and won his first race with Poete de la Sarthe on 3rd June 2012. Since then he has registered 38 victories and finished 80 times from 2nd to 4th place. His best season so far was in 2014 when he registered 12 wins 8 of which were with Uranium des Arkads who that year was also declared as the most consistent horse.


Kurt Saliba will be participating in two races over 1600m. The draws of the first race will be done in the presence of the participants two hours before the start of the championship.  In the 2nd race the drivers trade horses between them according to the order of finish in the first race.


The 9 participants in this leg will be hailing from 3 different continents -  Europe, Asia and Africa and apart from Malta there will be drivers from Algeria, France, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Serbia and Ukraine.


This will be the first time that Kurt Saliba will be representing our Country in an International Event.
