BOV It-Tazza l-Kbira Final to be held on 30th April
Starting numbers drawn by horse owners
The starting numbers for the final of the ‘BOV It-Tazza l-Kbira 2017’ were drawn during a press conference held at the Malta Racing Club.
The ‘BOV it-Tazza L-Kbira’ is the most prestigious race in the local horse racing calendar. Raced over a distance of 2640 metres, the top 72 trotters in the island vie for the prestigious prize. A series of 6 heats and two semi-finals determined the 12 finalists.
Mr Edwin Borg, Chairman of the Malta Racing Club and Mr Charles Azzopardi, Head PR and Marketing at Bank of Valletta drew the starting numbers together with the owners of the finalist horses.
‘The final of the ‘BOV it-Tazza l-Kbira’ is not just a spectacle of the best horse-racing on the island, but will also include an entertainment programme for all the family. Mr Edwin Borg said that we are very pleased to see a number of new horses participating in this year’s race, which augurs well for the sports of horse racing in Malta. This year the competition seems to be much tougher than in previous years as there is no one horse which will be the clear favourite but the final seems to be a well balanced one.
‘Bank of Valletta is renowned for its support of major sporting events in Malta and Gozo’ said Mr Azzopardi. ‘We take this opportunity to wish the best racing to all the owners here present and to the drivers, as well as an entertaining afternoon for the public in attendance.’
The final of the ‘BOV it-Tazza l-Kbira’ will be held on Sunday 30th April 2017 with the spectacle at the Marsa Race Track starting at 2:00 pm. 12 geldings will vie for the top prize, including Donald Duck Tooma, who was also a finalist last year.
