Young Horse Racing Driver Carl Caruana wearing the Maltese Colours at this weekend’s 61st Gran Premio Lotteria D’Agnano Race Meeting

Malta’s representative at the next leg of the Mediterranean Horse Racing Championship for Trotters, will be young horse driver Carl Caruana. The Leg will be the 2nd Leg of the 2010 tournament, after the first Leg held in Malta on the 31st March.

The 2010 Mediterranean Horse Racing Championship for trotters is made up of 8 competitive legs, held in different countries namely, France, Malta, Italy, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Russia and Algeria. Before leaving to Agnano in Naples, Dr. Matthew Brincat, Club Chairman said, “the Malta Racing Club is very proud to participate at such a prestigious annual event held on the same day as that of the 61st Gran Premio Lotteria Di Agnano, which is one of the most prestigious horse races around Europe with a total price money of more than €600,000.” He continued, “The Club is making all efforts to continue to have more young Maltese up and coming drivers experience these type of international events. We believe that this can help to promote both our country as a sporting country for horse racing and also to improve the level of trotting drivers on the island”.

During his short career, 27-year-old Carl Caruana has registered 39 wins and various places. On Saturday, he will also be participating at the “Trotting Amateur Drivers Championship of Three Continents” race, driving horse number 4, Ghineas. The race scheduled for Sunday 2nd May, starts at 16.05. The Mediterranean Horse Racing Leg, scheduled for this Sunday will start at 16:00 and is also the 5th Race of the meeting over a distance of 1600m.
